About the Bitcoin halving
What is the Bitcoin halving?
About every four years, the reward miners get for adding a block of Bitcoin is cut in half. This slows the rate of new Bitcoin coming into supply. It is one of the most watched events in crypto because it has lined up with big price moves in the past.
How is the countdown worked out?
The halving happens at a fixed block number, every 210,000 blocks. We take the current block height and estimate the time left using the average of about ten minutes per block, so the date is an estimate that gets sharper as it gets closer.
Does the halving raise the price?
Nobody can promise that. The halving cuts new supply, which some see as bullish over time, but price depends on many things. Treat it as one signal, not a guarantee, and never invest more than you can afford to lose.
